Logic of Form & Movement

I chose to work on one of the deadliest and most irritating insects ; a mosquito.

Analyzed and researched about the form of the mosquito and how it uses it's body to suck blood.

The mosquito proboscis is not just a single straw but it is a sheath that consists of six needlelike parts. The female moquito first pierces two of these needles, that have tiny teeth that saw through the human skin, another pair of needles that hold the tissues apart while sawing ,the fifth needle pierces into a blood vessel and acts like a straw. The mosquito separates the nutritious red blood cells from the fluid and excretes the water. Further on, the sixth needle drips saliva to avoid the blood from clotting.

With this information ,i decided to make something with a mechanism that shoots out the needles .Used bamboo as the material beacuse it easily forms the sheath of the proboscis as it is cylindrical ,and then went on to shape wooden sticks to sharpen the end points ,just like a needle,
